Exploring Amanda's Easy Withdrawal
Coming Off Three Psychiatric MedicationsThursday, January 15, 2026
Issue #258
Hello there!
Amanda's healing journey has been surprisingly easy. I was prepared for more of a struggle, more obstacles, or more frustrations. But they never happened. In fact, Amanda healed faster than we both expected, and she came off three medications--Lamictal, Wellbutrin, and Levothyroxine--as naturally as a butterfly emerging from a cocoon.
Today's podcast explores Amanda's healing process and what made it uniquely effortless. You'll be surprised, not just by what you'll discover, but by what she had to overcome to manifest her amazing path to freedom.
Read on to find out more about what we discovered along the way.
Have a great week!
Exploring Amanda's Easy Withdrawal
Coming Off Three Psychiatric Medications
What if coming off psychiatric medication didn’t have to be terrifying?
In this episode of The Holistic Psychiatrist Podcast, I speak with Amanda, who shares her experience of withdrawing from three psychiatric medications (Lamictal, Wellbutrin, and Levothyroxine) — smoothly, safely, and with surprising ease — after being medicated for most of her life.
Amanda (38 y.o.) had been on psychiatric medications since her early teens, following the loss of her grandmother and years of emotional experiences that were misunderstood and medicalized. Over 25 years, she was prescribed numerous antidepressants, mood stabilizers, and stimulants, alongside navigating addiction, misdiagnosis, and deep self-doubt.
In this candid conversation, Amanda reflects on:
Why her most recent withdrawal experience was radically different
How belief, self-responsibility, and boundaries played a role
The impact of grief, trauma, and identity on mental health
Why addressing root causes matters more than managing symptoms
The importance of practitioner trust and mindset
What long-term recovery (including sobriety and self-work) made possible
This episode is not medical advice, nor a promise of identical outcomes — but it is an invitation to rethink what healing can look like when approached holistically, thoughtfully, and with deep respect for the individual.
If you or someone you love feels stuck, fearful, or unsure about what’s possible beyond medication, this conversation offers grounded hope, clarity, and perspective.
