Do Planetary Energies Influence Our Moods and Circumstances?

Surprisingly, during my recent vacation in Yellowstone National Park, I saw amazing rainbows everywhere. As the cool, spring breeze blew spray from the Lower Falls, a rainbow would briefly shimmer in and out of view, spanning each side of the ocher canyon gorge.

At the Excelsior Geyser, steam formed a backdrop for the sunshine to create both our shadows and rainbow-light halos around our heads called a "glory" (an optical phenomenon). There I am in the picture with my daughter, Sara, leaning on a wooden barrier, taking a picture of our halos.

It's fascinating how the sun's energy can have a visual effect under the right conditions. Over the centuries, people have been curious about planetary effects on human life. I indulged my curiosity when I called Ken Bresee, a renowned astrologist, for an astrological reading. Someone I knew described his astonishing ability to have an in-depth understanding of her simply from her time, date, and location of birth.

Have a wonderful week!

Do Planetary Energies Influence Our Moods and Circumstances?
Integrating information from nearby planets

I know little about the planets or astrology, so when Ken Bresee talked about planetary angles, astrological signs, houses, and movements, he might as well have been speaking another language. The only person I've ever heard speak like Ken was Sybill Trelawney from the Harry Potter movies.

When encountering information completely foreign to me, I will typically reject or dismiss it. It's a naturally reflexive but limiting coping strategy. So, I consciously try to remain open and learn from the strange world of astrology which Ken Bresee has studied for over 30 years.

His reading for me was a flawlessly accurate, extensive, and in-depth description of me and my life (though I told him very little about me.) In my second session with him, he described general trends for my future. He knew so much about me that I wish my parents knew as much about me as Ken does.

What I learned from my readings with Ken is that our time and place of birth determine a great deal more about our character and life path than I ever thought possible. In fact, the energies/forces we encounter at the time of birth seem to have way too much power over our life paths. The rebel in me felt a little like a puppet, and I thought, "Hey, wait a minute here! What about free choice?"

According to Ken, planetary energies have powerful effects (over both the short and long term) on:

1. Mood
2. Intelligence
3. Social circumstances over the life span
4. Career choices
5. Character (strengths and weaknesses)
6. Talents

Ironically, the self-knowledge that Ken gifted me empowered me to choose beyond my natural tendencies. For example, at one point during my reading, Ken talked about the Leo aspect of my character that drives me towards wanting the best of everything. Afterward, I decided to adopt a healthier attitude and to be happy with "good enough."

Because my reading helped me understand the many powerful ways that planetary energies influence our lives, I invited Ken to be interviewed on my podcast so that I could learn more about his field of expertise. I hope you'll enjoy our conversation.

Have a terrific week!
